ZG: James Chance Interview
In the run up to our New York special on the 25th of September we’re going to be posting special NY related material. Much much more interesting than our own blatherings about New York and New York music will be a series of old articles taken from ZG. ZG was an influential art and critical theory journal ran by Rosetta Brooks in the late 70s/early 80s that featured top contributors (often writing under pseudonyms) who weren’t afraid to turn a criticial eye towards popular and even ‘trash’ culture. In this issue there are interviews with key No-Wavers and other avant-garde types as well as analysis of subjects as disparate as Bloomingdale’s window displays and Noise.
In the first of the ZG articles that we’re going to repost in the lead up to the Secret Danger New York Tribute Alan Joyce talks to James Chance. Oddly enough Chance/White/Siegfried sounds a bit like Holden Caulfield as a slew of subjects from art critics to ZE records ‘really get (him) mad’.
